I had the pleasure to work with the Canarys Copy Project team on a major initiative to consolidate our multiple Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) organizations into one ADO organization. Microsoft does not have a built-in process to perform this activity. They did a fantastic job using his skills and ADO knowledge, along with Canarys’ tools to accomplish this task to meet our company’s needs. The team’s timely communication, attention to detail, and delivery of a quality migration were greatly appreciated.

We reached out to Canarys team for assistance in migrating a single project from our on prem Azure DevOps Server 2019 to Azure DevOps Services. We decided to migrate only a single project at that time because there were high priority business needs which only Azure DevOps Services functionality (in the cloud) could provide for the project.

We were pleased with the work Canarys team provided before, so we decided to continue our working relationship with them with the migration of the remainder of our Azure DevOps Server collection to ADO Services in late August 2021. We worked with Canarys team to develop a migration plan and received a quote for the effort. The plan included a dry run, user acceptance testing, and migrating production to Azure DevOps Services. In March 2022, with Canarys team help and a lot of planning, we successfully migrated our collection to Azure DevOps Services!

The team did a lot of project configuration and testing on the dry runs of our single project migration. They communicated their observations of the dry run to us clearly and resolved outlying issues quickly. The business development team arranged our kickoff meeting, submitted a vendor agreement, and provided guidance for our ADO upgrades. The team gathered initial information of our on prem ADO environment with a questionnaire and communicated with us regarding our project template requirements, upgrade path, and provided proposals for the work Canarys team did. The migration specialists gave us a lot of technical guidance for our Azure DevOps version upgrades, importing our backup databases, and configuration requirements. They also assisted us with project template work, troubleshooting, and dry runs, and our final migration. All the team members have been professional, courteous, flexible, knowledgeable, and always willing to assist us.
